Soldiers come from many walks of life: bodyguards, prisoners, and resistance members are all part of XCOM's pool of hirees. Regardless of their background, they are united in their desire to take back their planet from the alien menace.

Summary[]

XCOM Soldiers are elite soldiers chosen to take part in the battle against the alien menace present throughout the XCOM games (beginning with XCOM: UFO Defense). These soldiers are generally hand picked from leading countries taking part in the XCOM program.

By the end of the events in XCOM: Enemy Within, the aliens have taken over the planet. By XCOM 2, the planet is completely under their control and the XCOM program is merely a shadow of its former self, taking part in guerrilla resistance programs. Their soldiers, however, remain diligent.
